Glencoe Central Primary School’s mission is to provide a high quality learning environment based around the school values of Confidence, Respect, Responsibility, Inclusion and Doing Your Best.

Optimism is promoted along with resilience and quality relationships between students, staff, parents and the wider community. The school currently caters for approximately 67 students from 5 to 13 years of age, operating across three classes. The small school environment provides students with the opportunity to be successful learners through close relationships and connections to the community. Glencoe Central Primary School staff are committed to providing an engaging and enriching teaching and learning environment with the wellbeing and educational outcomes of its students as its highest priority.

Student Welfare and Community Links

At Glencoe, relationships are built through close connections, shared activities and celebrations. A broad range of student leadership and student voice, is encouraged for students to negotiate learning and contribute to our sites directions. An active Parent and Carers Association, and involved Governing Council support the work of the school. Community volunteers support our Learning Assistance Program and reading programs. Our staff develop close connections and provide wellbeing support for students and families.

Learning

The staff is committed to the delivery of quality, differentiated Literacy and Numeracy programs, through a focus on thinking skills, powerful learning dispositions and the Australian Curriculum. Learning opportunities are maximised through feedback for improvement and goal setting. Learning is designed that engages and extends all students, and includes specializations in Indonesian, Science, The Arts and Technologies. Opportunities are sought to participate in programs that broaden student experiences. These include Pedal Prix, Lego League, Riding for the Disabled, Cows Create Careers and participation in SAPSASA sports. We collaborate with industry partners to further extend learning opportunities for our students. An organic garden, orchard, poultry breeding and calf rearing, complement our rural, community and agricultural industry links.

Glencoe Central Primary is committed to developing inclusive practice for the benefit and ongoing strength of our community. We are honoured to represent the Department for Education in the Inclusive Schools Communities Project.
